What is salsa?
Salsa is one of the world’s most famous social dances — a spicy blend of Cuban and African influences that works just as well for first-timers as it does for people who’ve been dancing for years.
Beginners pull off spins and simple patterns faster than they expect. Advanced dancers stay for the improvisation, musicality, and the nightclub energy. Everyone gets wrapped up in the sensation salsa creates on the floor.
A Studio 22 salsa class is 90 minutes with two instructors on the floor. You’ll learn the timing, a few patterns you can actually use at a social, and rotate partners so coming solo is the norm — not the exception.

Dances in this style
Salsa
The headline dance. A spicy blend of Cuban and African influences — thrilling spins and dips for beginners, improvisation and flourish for advanced dancers.
Bachata
A walking Cuban hip motion with a unique “pop,” danced in open or closed position depending on the mood. Intimate, musical, and easy to start.
Merengue
If you can walk, you can start Merengue. Steady, upbeat, and easy to follow — the perfect first Latin dance for getting your hips moving.
Casino Rueda
Salsa danced in a circle. A caller leads the room through partner-swapping patterns. Very social — and a blast once you have the salsa basics.
